Job Spec: Industrial Designer
Remote Vans LLC is looking for an energetic, skilled individual to join our team as a Senior Industrial Designer.
We’re seeking an industrial designer with 10 years demonstrated experience, with experience in the RV / Auto / Boat industry preferable. Metal design and fabrication experience essential.
This individual is proactive, enthusiastic and eager to become part of the Remote Vans team.
Education & Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in industrial design
- 10 years work experience with Solidworks is essential.
- Metal Fabrication Experience essential.
- Familiarity with MS Office and G Suite
- Experience with Van or Automotive Industry.
Responsibilities:
- Create and modify SolidWorks part, drawing, and assembly files,
- Work with design and engineering teams to model and create various vehicle components, prototypes, and production support equipment
- Perform static, dynamic, and fatigue FEA and make recommendations to design team based on findings
- Evaluate design concepts and revise models using DFM best practices
- Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to adjust designs as needed to “As-Built” specifications and refine models/prints based on current production needs
- Track and manage revisions for various supplier and vendor parts
- Lead and develop the industrial design team
- Reverse engineer supplier parts when CAD data is needed
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure orders arrive on time are correct
- Assist with R&D vehicle assembly as needed
- Contribute to the overall success of the Design, Production and Assembly Teams by motivating all team members through collaboration, cooperation, and camaraderie,
- All other duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
- You have a relevant bachelor’s degree with 10 years of proven experience
- You have experience in the van or automotive industry
- You are good at building relationships across the entire organization
- You are good at working with suppliers
- You can work well under minimal supervision
- You are highly self-motivated and entrepreneurial
- Ability to perform high level engineering calculations,
- Aptitude for learning new things quickly
- High level of attention to detail
- Capable of solving complex problems with simple solutions
- Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrates the ability to work effectively in a team environment
