When we are in the PNW for a trip in our Remote Vans® Series, we always make sure to head up to Washington for at least the weekend! Seattle is great to start your trip based out of, and here are some locations that we love heading to from Seattle for a quick day trip or even the whole weekend.

Olympic National Park

2 hours from Seattle (via ferry or drive)

Olympic National Park is one of the most diverse parks in the United States. The park is only about two hours from Seattle, making it an easy day trip or weekend escape. Hike to the Hoh Rain Forest, explore the coastal beaches like Rialto Beach, or head up to Hurricane Ridge for sweeping mountain views.

Pro Tip: Take the ferry from Seattle to Bainbridge Island and drive through scenic roads to reach the park. It adds a little extra adventure to your day trip!

La Conner

1.5 hours from Seattle

La Conner is a charming small town in Skagit County that feels like stepping back in time.Stroll through its quaint streets lined with art galleries, boutique shops, and waterfront cafes. If you’re visiting in spring, don’t miss the famous Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, where vibrant fields of tulips create a stunning landscape that looks like a painter’s palette.

Pro Tip: Pack a picnic and head to the nearby waterfront park for a relaxing lunch with a view.

North Cascades National Park

2.5 hours from Seattle

A visit to North Cascades is a must when in the Pacific Northwest. Just a couple of hours northeast of Seattle, North Cascades National Park is one of the most underrated National Parks in our opinion! There is so much to see and do in the North Cascades that we recommend planning this as a weekend/week long trip if timing allows.

Pro Tip: If you’re in a Remote Van®, check out the campgrounds inside the park for a unique overnight experience under the stars.

Leavenworth

2 hours from Seattle

Leavenworth is a Bavarian-style village nestled in the Cascade Mountains, offering a European getaway right in the heart of Washington State. The picturesque town is known for its alpine architecture, world-class breweries, and delicious German-inspired cuisine. Leavenworth is great year round, but our favorite time to visit is Christmas time when all the lights are up!

Pro Tip: For a scenic twist, take the scenic route along Highway 2 through the mountains.

Snoqualmie Falls

40 minutes from Seattle

Just a short drive from the city, Snoqualmie Falls is one of the most iconic natural attractions in Washington. The 268-foot waterfall plunges into the Snoqualmie River below. There’s an easy-to-access viewpoint, and you can also hike down to the base of the falls. Nearby, you’ll find the charming town of Snoqualmie, which offers great dining options for a post-hike meal.

Pro Tip: Visit in the early morning for a quieter, less crowded experience—perfect for photos!

Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument

3 hours from Seattle

Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore the aftermath of the 1980 eruption. The site includes visitor centers, hiking trails, and observation points where you can view the active volcano and its surrounding landscapes. If you’re into geology or just looking for an unforgettable experience, this is a day trip you won’t forget.

Pro Tip: For the most panoramic view, head to the Johnston Ridge Observatory, which overlooks the blast zone and offers an incredible learning experience about the eruption and its aftermath.
