Morning Rolling Nomads, today on the blog we catch up with Mike and his family in Oasis Series #85, or Smokey as they affectionately call their van. The family are on a  long-running journey through America’s incredible national parks and are making their way through southern Idaho.

Their latest adventure included stops at four unique National Park Service sites:

  • City of the Rocks National Reserve
  • Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve
  • Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument
  • Minidoka National Historic Site

The clear highlight of the trip was the city of the rocks. The family camped off grid, explored the distinct granite formations, and covered over 40 miles of tough and unpaved back roads. Smokey handled these roads effortlessly thanks to the suspension system.

The Thuline family began exploring national parks five years ago, and since then, they’ve visited a staggering 89 park sites and have plans to see many more this year.  We look forward to seeing which new park site they’re headed to next!

Mike let us know that, “After traveling over 4000 miles in Smokey over the past month we have enjoyed many of the features the Oasis has to offer. The upgraded suspension handles well off the beaten path.  We appreciate being able to stay in touch with others utilizing Starlink. The outdoor shower is an awesome feature.  It has saved me multiple times! With the large fresh water tank and battery system we were able to stay off grid for 5 full days.  That’s the freedom and adventure we were looking for when we purchased Smokey.  We look forward to many more adventures in Smokey in the years to come.”

We can’t wait to see where y’all head off to!
