Discover Captiva Island: Your Ultimate Day Trip Guide with Remote Vans®

Captiva Island is the perfect day trip (or final destination!) from Fort Myers beach. With it only being a short boat ride away, we always head over to Captiva to spend the morning/afternoon strolling the island town and reading a book on the picturesque beaches. And we definitely think The Bubble Room is worth the hype – especially their Orange Cake.

If you decide to drive over to Captiva Island via the Sanibel Causeway, make sure to stop in Sanibel Island, this is something we have had on our list for quite some time! Here’s how we spent a day on Captiva Island:

Best Way to see the Island

Our favorite way to see the island is by bike or on the water with kayaks! You can find rentals for both kayaks and bikes throughout the island, and you’ll notice lots of golf cart rentals if that is more your speed. When kayaking you’ll notice manatees often hangout in the waters where the mangrove trees are!

Food Favorites

Start off the day at Key Lime Bistro for breakfast! This is one of our favorite breakfast spots on the island, but also one of the best dinner/dessert spots as well. If you stop back for dinner, enjoy live music while you dig into their delicious seafood dishes and, of course, their iconic pie.

It wouldn’t be a trip to Captiva without stopping for lunch at The Bubble Room. Step inside and feel like you’ve entered a magical world filled with quirky Christmas decorations and vintage toys from the early 1900s.Nothing is better than a good sandwich and a slice of their famous Orange Cake after a morning spent biking around the island! Make sure to stop at the gift shop next door and stop to take some pictures of the bubbly atmosphere throughout the restaurant.

Sunset Grill is the perfect place for dinner with an ocean view. Known for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner – we always head here for dinner to watch the waves roll in after a long day out. Bro tip: don’t skip on their catch of the day!
